New on the Stage Door Pop imprint is the debut CD release of Tommy
Steele's 1974 song cycle concept album My Life, My Song.
With words and
music by Tommy Steele, the autobiographical concept
album charts his life up to the year 1961, telling his story through 12
musical chapters. Lavishly orchestrated by Chris
Gunning and produced by the legendary George Martin, the album represents one of Tommy
Steele's greatest career accomplishments.
Originally
issued by Pye Records in October 1974, the album was presented in a deluxe
gatefold sleeve, including an accompanying booklet featuring 12 intrinsically appropriate
paintings created by Steele, one to illustrate each musical chapter.
To
coincide with the release, Tommy performed the album as an hour long Omnibus presentation
for BBC television, presenting live performances of all 12 songs, alongside
interview segments with Melvyn Bragg.
Digitally
remastered from the original Pye master tapes, this superb album now makes its debut on CD. The recording showcases
Tommy Steele at his very best, as both performer and an accomplished composer. Presented in a
stunning full gloss 6 panel digipak sleeve, the CD is accompanied with a 16
page booklet featuring all Tommy's original paintings for the album alongside
the song
lyrics.
My
Life, My Song is a limited edition pressing of 200 units only (the CD is a
