Two Time Tony Award winning actor
Richard Kiley is most
synonymous for creating the role of Don Quixote in the original 1965 production of Broadway musical 'Man of La Mancha', being the first performer to sing the show's signature song 'The Impossible Dream'. Despite a lengthy and
distinguished career on Broadway, including originating roles in 'Kismet', 'Redhead', 'No Strings' and 'I Had A Ball', Kiley only recorded one solo album. The
'Rodgers And Hammerstein Songbook' was issued by RCA Camden in January 1960, the collection was presented as a double LP featuring a generous helping of Rodgers and Hammerstein standards
from their classic musicals 'Oklahoma!', 'Carousel', 'South Pacific', 'The King And I', 'State Fair' and 'Cinderella'. The collection also included numbers
from their lesser known works 'Allegro', 'Me And Juliet' and 'Pipe Dream', presenting an extensive overview of Rodgers and Hammerstein's back catalogue.
Richard Kiley's 'Rodgers And Hammerstein Songbook' double album now makes its debut on CD, digitally remastered
from stereo reel to reel tape. The release continues Stage Door's COLLECTOR'S
SERIES, a line of limited edition CD products presented in the retro style of a miniature long-playing record. All Collector's Series titles are limited to 500 units.
