STAGE DOOR RECORDS - MARY MARTIN HI-HO AND OTHER RARITIES (STAGE 2370)

Tony Award winning Broadway star Mary Martin is most often associated with her work for Rodgers and Hammerstein, originating the roles of Nellie Forbush in 'South Pacific' and Maria Von Trapp in 'The Sound Of Music'. However, Mary also had a long-standing association with the Walt Disney Company, recording several albums and singles for their Disneyland record label in the 1950s and 1960s. Collaborating with Tutti Camarata, resident producer and musical director at Disneyland Records, Mary recorded the 1958 album 'Hi-Ho' featuring a number of then Disney standards from such films as 'Snow White', 'Pinocchio' and 'Bambi'. Mary's 'Hi-Ho' album now makes its debut on CD accompanied with a generous selection of rare bonus tracks including her 1958 Christmas single 'Making Believe It's Christmas Eve'. Also included are selections from the privately issued faith album 'Guideposts For Living' (released in 1962) and Mary's 1962 Capitol Records single 'Daughter Of Silence'; a musical adaptation of Chopin's 'Nocturne op.9 no.1' by Carl Sigman.

The release continues Stage Door's COLLECTOR'S SERIES, a line of limited edition CD products presented in the retro style of a miniature long-playing record. All Collector's Series titles are limited to 500 units.
